Community-based work to Develop Child Protection Mechanism (CDCPM)
The objective of the CDCPM project is to protect the children from trafficking, abuse and violence and to develop mechanism of child protection from all sort of abuse especially in the trafficking prone areas of Bangladesh.
The project has been undertaken with the assistance of UNICEF for the period from August 2008 to June 2010. UDDIPAN along with two other agencies namely Bangladesh National Women’s Lawyer’s Association BNWLA) and Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) are entrusted with the responsibility of the project.
Coverage
The project is implemented in 28 districts of the country. UDDIPAN is working in 58 unions of 31 upazilas spread over 13 districts namely Comilla, B.Baria,Chandpur, Laxmipur, Noakhali, Chittagong, Cox’s bazaar, Bandarban, Mymenshing, Kishoreganj, Sherpur , Netrokona and Kusthia.
Activities assigned to UDDIPAN :
UDDIPAN is assigned to perform the following activities under the project:
• Assist Ministry of Home Affairs in facilitating the national anti trafficking campaign process
• Develop area based program communication strategies involving CCC and other stakeholders at district level focusing on upazila.
• Facilitate sensitization and motivational activities at community level for different groups using appropriate different methods and approaches through involving CCC, UMC, UPMC and DATC
• Activation and functionalism of existing anti trafficking / motivational committees
• Sensitize local leaders, teachers, religious leaders, local law enforcers, journalist, judicial personnel and representatives from MoWCA, MoSW,MoY&S and MoRA.
• Undertake various policy advocacy activities in the district level involving GO, Civil society and media
