Emergency Response on Child Education(ERCEP)



To address the educational needs of the children of SIDR affected areas. UDDIPAN launched a project in 5 upazila of 2 district namely Pirojpur & Barguna of which 4 in Pirojpur & one in Barguna District. In Pirojpur 1) Pirojpur Sadar 2) Zianagar 3) Bhandaria 4) Mathbaria and 5) Amtali of Barguna district.

Under this project 125-registered primary school, non-registered primary school, community school & NGO schools and Madrasha was included which did not receive any donation or support from govt. The project was funded by DEC & UNICEF. The project duration was March – October 2008.

Objective of the project :
• To back the children school and continue schooling.
• Early rehabilitation of schools
• Support to the school (children & teacher) with learning teaching and recreational materials
• Build strong community based network to address child protection mechanism in the community
• Capacity building for teachers, community members and relevant stakeholder on psycho social issues, child friendly school focusing on emergency and its effects, disaster Risk Reduction & Child protection in emergency.

Achievement :
No. of school & Madrashas built / repaired = 125
No. of support responded students = Grils =8779, Boys 8522, Child=17301
School & Madrasha repaired =125 nos.
Recreational materials supported = 250 set
Teaching materials provided = 250 set
Learning materials provided = for 17301 children

Project Impact :
• 398 trained teacher are conducting daily classes in child friendly environment
• They provide psychosocial counseling to students if needed
• 17301 students getting opportunity to develop their physical and mental advancement
• 398 teachers getting opportunity to use teaching & learning materials
• 116 Volunteer teachers developed who are helping the students of 125 school in their birth registration.
